Thibault Liger-Belair "La Corvée de Villy", Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, France

The domaine of Liger-Belair has been in the family for 250 years.  In 2001 Thibault took over the estate and has been growing the domaine ever since.  "La Corvee de Villy" is sourced from a vineyard high above Nuits-Saint-Georges on the Chaux plateau.  Mostly volcanic soils with some iron rich clay.  Red fruit and wet leaves.  Great freshness and minerality.  An absolute bargain in the world of red Burgundy particularly given the pedigree of this producer.
